In addition to the challenges faced by people with epilepsy, women with epilepsy are confronted daily with gender-specific challenges such as increased vulnerability to sexual abuse and gender-based violence. To address these challenges, we recently organized a capacity-building workshop for 46 women with epilepsy, during which hands-on skills in Omo production as well as financial start-up capital were offered to the participants.

During the workshop, the women participated in an interactive and educational activity that empowered them about gender-based violence. There was so much enthusiasm among the women as they asked questions on gender-based violence. They were also given free antiepileptic medications for one year.

The workshop was highly appreciated by the women, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude to EAARF.

The workshop was organized with support from the Disability Inclusive Humanitarian Action project of the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services.
